Support 15 Now PDX by Becoming a Monthly Sustainer Today!

The grassroots strategy and successful media campaign implemented by 15 Now PDX has steered the entire statewide conversation on raising the minimum wage toward $15. This work has led to tangible victories like a $15 minimum wage for all Multmonah County employees, and a $15 Fair Wage Policy for contract workers in Portland. These victories for $15 benefit the lives of real working people, and with your help we can win even more victories, bigger victories, including making Oregon the first state to win a $15 minimum wage.

Oregon is already the first state to have a serious conversation about a statewide $15 minimum wage, and we can be the first state to win $15. It is unlikely the state legislature will pass $15, but we can take it the ballot, we can win, and 15 Now PDX will be a leader in that effort.

To help us achieve this historic victory in the Fight for $15, 15 Now PDX is a launching a monthly sustainer fundraising campaign. Big business is going to throw down with the full weight of their unimaginable wealth in an effort to stop us. We won’t have big corporations throwing millions of dollars at us to win $15 like the opposition will have to stop it.

What we do have is even more powerful… We have you. Working people. Activists. Allies. People who understand that when you raise the floor, you raise everyone up with it. People who share our vision of an Oregon where no one who works lives in poverty.

Your contributions are vital to the success of this campaign. Knowing that we have the money coming in on a monthly basis to help cover our campaign costs is vital to a sustained and successful struggle. Monthly sustainers help provide the month-to-month financial stability we need to keep growing and fighting.

Our first goal is 500 monthly sustainers donating $15 per month to the campaign. If $5 or $10 per month is what you can afford, that is great too. If you can give more than $15 per month, please do. If you can only give a one time donation, we thank you for that as well.

At whatever amount you are able, with your help and sustaining monthly support we can continue to grow and win bigger and better victories for Portland and for Oregon’s working class!

No one who works should live in poverty. $15 Now!

The Fight for $15 Spreads Throughout Oregon

15 Now PDX began its work in February 2014, and for some time was going at it alone in the fight for a $15 minimum wage in Oregon. Being concentrated in the Portland area necessarily meant that the campaign had a local focus, and that fact made it easy for Portland’s city council and Big Business entities such as the Portland Business Alliance to brush the thought of us aside little comment due to the fact that a state preemption law prevents municipalities within Oregon from raising the minimum wage for all workers in their jurisdiction.  However, facts on the ground are beginning to change.

As the Fight for $15 in Portland and the rest of the U.S. continues to build and gain momentum in the wake of Seattle’s victory, a number of new 15 Now chapters are popping up and forming all over the State of Oregon. Nascent chapters now exist and are beginning to build and take action from Beaverton to The Dalles, to Salem, Eugene, and Medford.

Inflation in Oregon has doubled that of the national rate in recent years while employment and income gains for the working class remain stagnant. In addition, recent studies by both the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Alliance for a Just Society  show that a living wage for workers in the State of Oregon is around $16/hr. As 15 Now continues to build and spread throughout Oregon, and our state legislature prepares to try and raise the state’s minimum wage during the 2015 legislative session, they will not be able to ignore these facts, nor will they be able to ignore the groundswell of grassroots, working class support for a $15/hr minimum wage in Oregon!

But we need your help to make $15 a reality for Oregon! Can you volunteer to Fight for $15 in Oregon? Click here to contact us about joining or starting a local chapter in your city. Can you make a monetary contribution to help us fight the big money that big business is going to spend to stop the working class from getting its fair share? Click here to donate to our current fundraising drive or you can click here to make a monthly donation!

15 Now is Going National!

Despite the loopholes, the achievement in Seattle yesterday was historic and the opportunity is ripe to utilize the momentum in order to spread the Fight for $15 nationwide. Even though the fight to close the loopholes is far from over, now that legislation for a $15 minimum wage has passed in Seattle, 15 Now is looking beyond that horizon and is going national.

15-Now-logoIt cost almost $150,000 to win yesterday’s legislation, and now 15 Now has launched a drive to raise another $150,000 to establish a strong national organization that can help take the Fight for $15 beyond Seattle and into the rest of the country. But they need our help to do it! Can you donate to 15 Now to help spread the movement nationwide? In addition to helping out the national organization, can you make a monthly donation to 15 Now PDX to help us fight big corporate money and win $15 here in Portland?

Support Oregonians for 15 – Sign the Ballot Petition

Oregonians for 15 is the petition committee and coalition that is working to put a $15 minimum wage on Oregon’s 2016 ballot. It has become more than clear that our legislators aren’t going to do the right thing. They are going to ignore the numerous cost of living and living wage studies that have been on the State Oregon. They aren’t going to do the right thing for Oregon’s working families by passing a statewide $15 minimum wage. So it is being taken to ballot. Support Oregonians for 15 today and help win a $15 minimum wage for 700,000 low-wage working Oregonians!

When it became clear that last April Oregon’s state legislature was not going to pass a minimum wage increase, Oregonians for 15—a coalition of labor unions, community groups, faith organizations, and small businesses—filed to put $15 on the ballot.

On Saturday September 26, 2015 volunteers in over 20 cities across the State of Oregon collected thousands of signatures as part of a kick off day of action for the signature gathering campaign. But you don’t have to run across someone on the street to sign the petition. You can also download it right in your home and sign it from your comfy chair!
